handmade pottery & ceramic chess sets
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. All of my chess sets are hand-poured & hand-glazed. As for my pottery, that is all hand-thrown on the wheel. There are a total of 2 hands behind the Midknight Kiln, creating small-batch functional art right here in New Hampshire (with my kiln often running through all hours of the night!)

Introducing the Royal Chess Collection in Sandstorm finish.
Each of these 32 porcelain ceramic figures is individually poured and refined by hand. The pieces undergo two kiln firings - they are first bisque fired, then carefully glazed, and finally returned to the kiln for one last firing. The foot of each piece is lined with 95% wool baize to protect the board and enhance touch during play.
These extra-large chess pieces require a board with 2.5” squares. The King boasts a height of 4.25” and a broad shoulder width of 2”. The pawns measure 3.25” high. Chess board is not included, but available for purchase separately. Chess board shown in pictures is the 24” Maple & Erable board.
Subtle variations in glaze, texture, weight, or form are a reminder that each chess piece is made by hand (and not a machine!)
Included: 1 complete 32-piece chess set (1 King, 1 Queen, 2 Bishops, 2 Knights, 2 Rooks, & 8 Pawns of each color).
These stoneware cups are wheel-thrown and glazed by hand. Olive speckle glaze with baby blue, jade & yellow gold drips.
